In commemoration of the 2026 Workers’ Day, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, held its maiden Director General’s Social and Sports Day, bringing together staff in a vibrant display of unity, wellness, and team spirit.
The event, designed to promote camaraderie and healthy living, featured a range of engaging activities including aerobic sessions, indoor games such as chess, scrabble, and ludo, as well as friendly competitions in badminton and table tennis. It provided a refreshing opportunity for staff to interact outside the formal work environment, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and reinforce a shared sense of purpose.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director General emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of staff to the growth and effectiveness of the Institute, noting that the success of any institution is driven by the dedication and well-being of its workforce. The celebration also underscored NILDS’ commitment to staff welfare, work life balance, and the promotion of a positive organizational culture.
Highlighting some of the outcomes of the sporting activities, Edema Precious of the Department of Training and International Cooperation emerged as the winner in the badminton competition, while Dr. Samsudden Mohammed of the Department of Legislative Support Services clinched first place in the table tennis category.
The maiden DG’s Social and Sports Day not only marked the global celebration of workers but also served as a testament to NILDS’ ongoing efforts to build a motivated, healthy, and cohesive workforce.
